Camel
Share of a dairy camel
How this helps
Irish farm animals are not always the appropriate solution in project countries. In Kenya for instance Pokot tribesman live in an arid landscape that is unsuitable for most livestock. The Solution? Camels! Camels don't die in drought which makes them an invaluable commodity. They can provide a family with meat, milk, butter and draft power for ploughing and farm work, which can dramatically increase a poor family's crop production. Like all of our other livestock programmes, the wealth is shared by a whole community; one success automatically leads to another. The first recipient family are required to 'pass on' the first female calf that their camel has to another poor family. They then keep all subsequent stock bred. Our camel projects have been hugely successful thanks to the generosity of people just like you. Why not help the tribesman of Kenya by making a gift of a camel today!
