This Mothering Sunday, March 14th, help women in disaster zones onto the road to recovery by making a donation to Bóthar in your mothers’ name.
Mums helping Haitian mums…
By giving a living gift of a food & income producing animal, not only will you be honouring the mother hen in your life, you will also be helping a destitute mother in Haiti to feed her children.
The aftermath of a disaster situation can be soul-destroying for even the most resourceful and loving mother.
After the emergency relief work has ended and the cameras have left, that’s when Bóthar’s job begins…
These mothers and their families need your help…
Bóthar is working with families in recovery zones around the world including Kosovo, Rwanda and Haiti.
What Bóthar does isn’t what you see in the news. It’s the long road to recovery in the aftermath of a war or a natural disaster.
Giving a food and income producing animal through Bóthar – like a flock of hens (€190) or a dairy goat (€300) or three hives of bees (€125) - gives hope.
Laying hen projects are very successful and provide a family with a daily supply of protein rich eggs that will improve their diet. Families may also sell any surplus eggs for income. The money earned from the sale of eggs at local markets can pay for other sources of food and even medicine. It can even go so far as to pay for school fees, these are indeed life-saving eggs.
Bóthar Recovery Programmes in formerly war torn Kosovo and Rwanda and our newest Recovery Programme in Haiti, establish poor families in small farming units by giving them the gift of livestock.
The impact that one good quality farm animal has on an impoverished family in the developing world can mean the difference between destitution and food security.
This coming Mothers day Bóthar needs your help.
Give the gift of hope to your mother hen this year!
