Our project in Cambodia began in 2005 and has provided families with farming equipment and multi-purpose cows which can be used for draft power, milk and meat. Veterinary supplies and training have also been given to certain members so that they can provide veterinary support to project farmers in the locality.

Location Location: 18 rural communities in Pursat and Battambang provinces

Number of Families Number of families: 450

Number of Families Animals: 450 multi-purpose cows

Number of Families Other inputs: Equipment and supplies, technical assistance, transportation, vegetable and fruit tree seeds and veterinary medicine.

Number of Families Training: General animal management, integrated farming, compost use, saving system, training for Village Animal Health Workers, gender justice training, marketing surplus products, forage management, livestock health, shelter and housing, record keeping, reproduction and breeding.

Number of Families Brief synopsis: This project aims to alleviate the poverty of 450 farming families through the provision of cattle that will provide them with draft power as well as milk and meat. The families have been trained in all aspects relating to their animals care as well as a particular number of project members who have been trained in how to provide basic animal health care.

Number of Families Pass-on obligations: Normal pass-on procedures apply.

Number of Families Expected benefits: Through the provision of animals and training, this project has improved the lives of all those involved in a myriad of ways. The Village Animal Health Workers also serve to ensure the long term sustainability of the project and the increased productivity of the cattle.
