Current Project Profile
Project title:
Partnership with Elevages sans Frontières (ESF)
Location: Southern Benin
Number of families: 315
Animals: Alpine goats, bees, grasscutters, poultry, oxen, rabbits and pigs.
Other inputs: Veterinary aid, technical training and sales assistance.
Training: Basic animal health management, animal husbandry, hive and zero grazing unit construction and maintenance.
Brief synopsis: By the end of 2010, the expectation is that 315 families will have benefited directly by the use and “passing-on” of various animals, enabling those families to earn some money from the sale of produce, which will in turn accommodate fundamental needs such as good nutrition and education, and thus afford them the opportunity to change their present situation. Training on how to care for their animals and achieve this goal will be provided by ESF Benin.
Pass-on obligations: Normal Pass on Procedures applies.
Expected benefits: It is hoped that as a result of the change that will come to the lives of the beneficiaries, this benefit will spread northward, through the ‘Pass-on’ principal, and by increasing over time, improve the lives of more and more people of Benin through agriculture and micro-enterprise.
Co-financing partner(s): Elevages sans Frontières.
Local partner(s): ESF Benin.
